History

The order, the Texas build fared, 1998 at the Newport News Shipbuilding . The keel laying took place in 2002 at the yard of the company to Northrop Grumman heard their shipyard in Newport News , Virginia instead. The boat was of First Lady Laura Bush in the name of Texas baptized, according to the U.S. state of Texas . The speech at the ceremony on 31 July 2004 by the Texas Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison held.
In 2005, the boat was launched and began its first trial runs, called initial or Alpha Sea Trials . This ended the Texas in May 2006, whereupon followed a dockyard time, were eliminated in the last mistake. On 9 September 2006, the boat was officially used in the United States Navy commissioned. Since 2009 it is in Pearl Harbor stationed Hawaii. In October 2009 appeared toTexas to near the North Pole. Thus it was the first boat in its class, which operated in Arctic waters. The first regular use led the U-boat from May to August 2010 in the eastern Pacific, where, under command of the Joint Interagency Task Force South acted. In June 2011, the submarine moved into the western Pacific, on the way it went, among other ports in Japan and South Korea.
